Generating descriptive text from functional brain images
نویسندگان
چکیده
Recent work has shown that it is possible to take brain images of a subject acquired while they saw a scene and reconstruct an approximation of that scene from the images. Here we show that it is also possible to generate text from brain images. We began with images collected as participants read names of objects (e.g., “Apartment”). Without accessing information about the object viewed for an individual image, we were able to generate from it a collection of semantically pertinent words (e.g., ”door,” ”window”). Across images, the sets of words generated overlapped consistently with those contained in articles about the relevant concepts from the online encyclopedia Wikipedia. The technique described, if developed further, could offer an important new tool in building human-computer interfaces for use in clinical settings. Generating Synthetic Computed Tomography and Synthetic Magnetic Resonance (sMR: sT1w/sT2w) Images of the Brain Using Atlas-Based Method
Introduction: Nowadays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in combination with computed-tomography (CT) is increasingly being used in radiation therapy planning. MR and CT images are applied to determine the target volume and calculate dose distribution, respectively. Since the use of these two imaging modalities causes registration uncertainty and increases department w...
متن کاملGenerating the synthetic CT (sCT) and synthetic MR (sMR: sT1w/sT2w) images of the brain using atlas based method
Introduction: Radiation therapy planning (RTP) is one of the clinical applications in which both CT scan and MRI are used. MR and CT images are applied to determine the target volume and calculation of dose distribution, respectively. In addition, using two imaging modalities increases the department workload and cost. In this study, an algorithm was presented to create synthet...

Recent work has shown that it is possible to take brain images acquired during viewing of a scene and reconstruct an approximation of the scene from those images. Here we show that it is also possible to generate text about the mental content reflected in brain images. We began with images collected as participants read names of concrete items (e.g., "Apartment'') while also seeing line drawing...
متن کاملA Comparing between the impacts of text based indexing and folksonomy on ranking of images search via Google search engine
Background and Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the impact of text based indexing and folksonomy in image retrieval via Google search engine. Methods: This study used experimental method. The sample is 30 images extracted from the book “Gray anatomy”. The research was carried out in 4 stages; in the first stage, images were uploaded to an “Instagram” account so the images are tagge...
متن کاملIntegrating fMRI data into 3D conventional radiotherapy treatmentplanning of brain tumors
Introduction: This study was aimed to investigate the beneficial effects of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data in treatment planning for patients with CNS tumors in order to decrease the injury of functional regions of the brain followed by increase in life quality and survival of patients. This study pursues a novel approach in planning for the treatment of brai...
